Hi Ian
Welcome to the forums.
3 on 3 off was quite common a year or so ago but mainly due to the working time directive companies have moved to a 2 on 3 off rota. Or something similar, Shell do 2 on 2 off, 2 on 4 off, which works out the same as 2-3.
A lot of companies especially drilling companies have refused to budge and remain working 3 & 3 or 2 & 2.
I worked 3 & 3 for many years and found it ok. The problem for the companies is resource with an equal time rota you need to have one "back to back" in place. With 2 & 3 rota you need 1 1/2 people to cover one position. So you end up with someone doing one week in a position and having to step up or down to cover a week in another position. If you see what I mean?
regards

Bit of a new one to me Assistant electrician.
Q Is your base trade electrical and you will have the chance to work up to "Electrician"
or
Q Are you unskilled and will just be assisting the "Electrician"
If its the latter you will be working for the Electrical dept and assisting where required but will not be authorised to actually work on / or isolate electrical equipment.
regards

I have previously worked for KBR on a construction site, so I have some experience in electrical work. But I am not an electrical engineer. I think/hope its the later-assist the electrician.
Do electrician work day/night shifts or just day shifts with some urgent intervenitons at night? |

Depends some rigs have elecs on dayshift and nightshift others are days and get called out to safety or production related breakdowns outwith their working hours and I am afraid to say the call outs are usually unpaid these days. _________________ Thanks

I am from Republic of Macedonia and a HR company did some interviews here for working on oil rigs and I got accepted and they sent me the contract plane ticket and guarantee letter for the embassies here so that I can get visa.I think that they only hire workers from Balcan cuz of low wages.
It may also happen that the contract is just formaly for assistan electrician, I dont know.I will have to wait and see for myself next sunday. |

Well expect a painter is a painter no matter where you are. Always plenty corrosion offshore needing cleaned and painted and painted and painted.
Not a lot more to it I don't think but expect you can progress up the tree to sand blasting etc but need bit of training for that. Unless anyone can tell me different? _________________ Thanks
